Education in Faith

Jn 10:1 - 10

The gospel reading on Sunday is one that is filled with enormous inspiration and hope. This ‘feel good’ message is one that Jesus wants us to remember all of our lives. Jesus begins by telling his disciples “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Jesus then assures the disciples that he will prepare a place for them in his Father’s house. The disciples were perplexed by this, claiming that they didn’t know where Jesus was going so how would they find their way. Jesus then told the disciples “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus continues to say that if “you know me, you know my Father too.” There is no greater promise than the promise that Jesus makes to us today in this week's gospel reading. There is no greater feeling of hope, security and comfort than the feelings that Jesus leaves us with today. By entering into a relationship with Jesus we are guaranteed to be connected to God. A great message for our children to understand - that Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life”. A little bit like a GPS - providing guidance and direction through our path in life.
