On Sunday we celebrated the Ascension of Jesus into heaven. It was time for Jesus to say goodbye to his friends and to return to his father. Jesus gathered his disciples, assured them that he was with them always and left them with a job to do. Their mission was to “make disciples of all the nations” How do you think the disciples would have felt at this point …. frightened, confused, excited? The disciples didn’t truly understand what was going on but they were left with the Holy Spirit to strengthen them in their mission. As christians we are left with the same mission - to spread the Good News of Jesus. How can we do this in 2023 when the world we live in is so different? It may be as simple as smiling at the person you pass in the street, donating to a charity, helping a neighbour or friend when they need it. People can show the heart of Jesus in the smallest ways.
