Education in Faith

Jn 3:16 - 18

As we follow along from the events of the last few weeks, we now celebrate Trinity Sunday. The feast of the Holy Trinity is about God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit - One God but 3 people. Each time we make the sign of the cross we are saying a prayer to the Holy Trinity. As we celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity, can you see how God's love is manifested in the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit?

Sunday's gospel tells us of the awesome extent of God's love for us and God's promise of eternal life. The gospel echoes the first reading in which God tells Moses he is a loving God, slow to anger. These readings give us some clues about the Holy Trinity and the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all of us.

In the gospel Jesus said to Nicodemus, ‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life.” Wow, what a promise! The Old Testament and the New Testament both tell us, emphatically, that God loves us. No doubt about it.
