Education in Faith

Mt 9: 36 - 10.8

On the weekend we return to Ordinary time in the church calendar after celebrating the Easter events and all of the important days that followed. As a result, we return to the events that occur during the ministry of Jesus. In the first reading God told Moses that the Jewish people were God's chosen people. They were precious, and would be cared for. Once Jesus began his ministry he continued to care for them and then he sent his disciples to preach to them and heal them. In today's gospel Jesus sends the twelve apostles out into the world with quite a list of tasks to tackle. It sounds overwhelming, but Jesus also tells them to ask the Lord of the harvest for more workers. We think about all the people here in our school, our parish and our community who are doing God's work, and also about all the work that needs to be done. It’s important to encourage our children to think of ways they can help, they are the change makers of the future. Let’s start now, work beside them to make great things happen around us.
