Mothers are God’s precious blessing to us.  My mum inspired me to realise my own potential as a person and more importantly as a mum too. She left school at 14 because her family needed her to work but she always regretted not getting an education. I guess it’s no surprise that my sister and I are both involved in education. 

In the bible, God has blessed us with examples of motherhood to constantly remind us to be thankful of the mums in our lives:

1. Ruth (Ruth 1:16) - “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back.  Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live.  Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” . An example of submission and self-sacrifice.
2. Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1) - Then Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the Lord!  The Lord has made me strong!”. An example of faith and courage amidst personal struggles.  Hannah was childless during those times when not having a child was considered the ultimate failure. But rather than allow her pain to cause bitterness towards God, she used the pain in her heart as a catalyst to pray. Hannah was soon blessed with a child, Samuel, who became one of the old testament’s greatest prophet.
3. Blessed Virgin Mary (Luke 1:42) - “Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed.” .  Of course, our Mother Mary embodies the very essence of Motherhood – submission, self-sacrifice and unconditional love.

Lord, thank you for all the Ruths, Hannahs, and Marys I have met.  Most of all, thank you for the gift of mothers and motherhood.

FOUNDATION BUILDING BLESSING AND OPENING

It’s taken almost seven years to make it happen but this Friday we will be finally having the official Blessing and Opening of the Foundation Building - after many previous attempts that were impacted by COVID, state elections and Ministerial availability. 

We thank Paul Velten DOSCEL Director , Fr. Aju and Harriet Shing MLC for Eastern Victoria for being available to celebrate this with us. Other special guests will also be in attendance.

The ceremony will happen in the morning at 10am in the Foundation building with the Foundation children in attendance with other invited guests. 

ENVIRONMENTAL TEAM

At assembly this week we will be presenting the environmental team with their badges.  Parents are warmly invited to join us. The students who are in this team have waited very patiently for these badges and are working very hard in their roles to ensure our school is environmentally friendly.
