News from the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
How nice is it to finally have some warmer weather? By now all students should be in their summer uniform and as per our Sun Smart policy, all students are required to wear a hat when they are outside. If students do not have a hat, they will be asked to sit in a shaded area.
Last week a group of students represented St Michael’s at the Regional Athletics event held in Newborough. We are always so proud of the way in which they show respect, kindness and encouragement towards others. Congratulations to the following students who have progressed through to the State Athletics event being held in November - a tremendous effort!
Louis Flowers, Hattie MacPherson, Amber Walker and along with the boys relay team: Louis Flowers, Harry McMahon, Hayden Rawson and Zach Seeber.
There is a buzz of excitement as the Grade 5/6 students prepare for their Market Day Stall on Friday. The effort that they have put into designing their stall and purchasing products to sell and prizes to win is fabulous. I am particularly impressed with those students who have spent time these last few weeks making items at home - we have some very talented students! To support the Market Day, all students across the school will have some scheduled time to visit the stalls to buy some treats or trinkets. Children do not need to come to school with a large amount of cash, a gold coin or $5 will be sufficient to participate in the games.
Open Classroom Afternoon - Monday 10th November
At St Michael’s we have three days set aside in Term 4 whereby students will spend time in other classroom areas to help ease some of the concerns they may have about next year. In addition to this, some children have already begun the process of walking through classroom blocks, taking in similarities and differences and having the opportunity to ask questions about what next year might look like for them.
Another way in which we would like to support these transitions is to have an Open Classroom afternoon which will take place on Monday 10th November at 3:30pm to 4:00pm. This is an opportunity for you as parents and carers to come along and check out their learning spaces for next year and ask any questions of teachers that you or your child may be thinking about 2026. There won’t be any set activities, but this is rather a casual time for you and your child to explore and view other classrooms areas; something that we know is particularly important for those heading into grade 1, grade 3 and grade 5 as these students are in completely different buildings.
St Michael’s Netball Club
Congratulations to St Michael’s Netball Club in being nominated as a finalist in the Netball Vic Inclusive club of the year. Their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment has had a significant impact on so many of our school families and others within the local community. Well done to Sharan Nachorny and her team!
