Education in Faith
Sunday was the feast of Corpus Christi; otherwise known as the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. The gospel this week from Luke is about when Jesus fed the crowd of five thousand men.The disciples wanted to send the crowd away to find food for themselves but Jesus told them to feed the people. They gathered up five loaves of bread and two fish and shared it with the crowd. After everyone had eaten they gathered up the leftovers and collected twelve baskets of food. This week's gospel reminds us that our work as Christians is to become the Body of Christ on earth: to see, think and love as Jesus did.
A simple act of collecting food to donate to those in our community who need it is fulfilling the action of the gospel - we are seeing a need, thinking about others and loving as Jesus did. The community of St Michael’s is a generous one. Our children, our families and our staff are always willing to answer the call of the gospel.
