Education in Faith
The theme of the gospel this week is the lost and found. We have all been in the position where we have lost something valuable, and I’m sure you remember the feeling when you realise that the item or person is missing …. this is certainly not a very comforting feeling.
In the gospel this week we are reminded that God knows and loves each of us, and will search until he finds us if we should lose our way. This week the readings are all about searching for what is lost, repentance, forgiveness and evangelisation. In the gospel we listen to the story of the Prodigal Son: the son leaves the father for a better lifestyle but soon loses his way. When the lost son comes to his senses, and returns to the father asking his forgiveness, the father is ready to celebrate because “the lost has been found!” The mercy of God is with us always, He loves us and wants to save us, we are never alone.
