Boys School Sports Victoria State Champions!
After winning the Region Basketball Competition last week, our grade 5/6 boys joined the final 8 teams in the state and travelled to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on Monday to compete in the School Sport Victoria State Finals. The boys played 3 pool games - narrowly beating Banyule PS by 2 points, losing to Beaconhills (Pakenham) PS by just 2 points and winning against St Joseph’s (Warrnambool) PS by 9.
This saw them finish top of their pool and earn their place in the Grand Final against St Anne’s (Sunbury) PS. Within the first 5 minutes the boys were trailing 0-12 and then rallied together and triumphed, taking the game winning 35 - 32 in an outstanding game of basketball showing a high level of skill, heart and sportsmanship. All 8 boys played great basketball and should be proud of their efforts both on and off the court. Congratulations to all 8 boys who are now the School Sports Victoria State Champions! We are so very proud of all of you!
